Newsroom, Mar 22, 2022 / 10:41 am The Vatican has sent bishops around the world the text of the prayer that Pope Francis will lead on March 25 for the consecration of Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Here is the full text of the prayer obtained by CNA: O Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, in this time of trial we turn to you. As our Mother, you love us and know us: no concern of our hearts is hidden from you. Mother of mercy, how often we have experienced your watchful care and your peaceful presence! All efforts to address the broken relationship between Indigenous Peoples and the Catholic Church need to begin by listening to Indigenous people - Elders and Knowledge Keepers, Survivors, Chiefs, youth, and whole communities. Chief Cadmus Delorme has commented frequently that Indigenous and Church people of today were not there when the Indian Act came into being, when Residential Schools were opened, when the harsh effects of colonization began to impact Indigenous Peoples. But we have all inherited this situation, and it is for us to rise to the occasion to be instruments of healing and reconciliation. As Church, part of that inheritance is the legacy of having been complicit in the removal of children from their homes, and depriving them of their language, culture, spirituality, and family life. We have a special responsibility to engage in the work of the truth and reconciliation process. We can do that in many ways, and there is a role for each of us to play. This resource is intended as a help to discerning what each person, each parish, each community might do on this journey. It is our responsibility now to educate ourselves in order to walk the road together of right relationships, truth, justice and reconciliation. We offer a 3-fold way of entering into this: “Education – Encounters – Experiences.” Here is a link provided by Cowessess First Nation. There are some very concrete ways offered for non-Indigenous people to engage in learning and action: Community support (cowessessfn.com) You can see more resources on the https://archregina.sk.ca/indigenous-relations page
The Marian Centre continues to serve it’s lunch meals as a carry out and to respond to requests for clothing, personal hygiene and other items at the door. Sadly, our hoped for re-opening of our dining room is once again delayed for the foreseeable future because of the COVID pandemic. We continue to be very grateful for muffins, cookies, snacks and other items required for our bagged lunches. Presently, we are making 130 lunches which are much appreciated by those who come to us, many on a daily basis. Thank you for your ongoing support and prayers for our work!
The role of members is reach out to new parishioners and/or create opportunities to keep our Parish family connected. Currently we are looking for people that would be willing to reach out to new parishioners to ensure they know we are excited to have them as part of our Parish. We are also taking names for anyone interested in assisting with events when we have them in future. This is a perfect opportunity if you… - enjoy meeting and reaching out to new people to build and strengthen community, - want to serve our Parish community and need flexibility, and - can’t commit a large amount of time but still want to be involved If you are interested or would like more information please contact Tracy Roy at [email protected] or call at 306-550-2024. Building and strengthening our community in Christ has never been more important.
